Otawa Lodge
Otawa Lodge has requested a review of their existing website with an emphasis of ways to improve SEO after a big drop in ranking.
The main suggestion is to change the site from one set in ‘frames’ to one more easily indexed by search engines. Webdzine also recommended changing the index page from the ‘please enter’ to be the homestead page. Alternatively if the “front” page is to be kept, then all the various parts of the page – image , title and slogan – should be links to ‘open’ pages on the site.
The font selected is ‘Garamond’ which in most cases will not be displayed in the same way on viewers’ computers – setting a ‘standard’ font enhances readability for all.
The style sheet could be configured to allow for 3 fonts, enable the changing of the font colour etc while reducing the amount of coding within each page – means that they load faster, the text weightings are more accurate etc.
Another thing that should be changed is making the site comply with the latest accessibility guidelines - for example all images should have an alternate text so that sight impaired new users can ‘view’ your website by using a screen reader. This will also help with keyword emphasis for SEO.
